Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas has presented a donation to the City of Wichita to continue a sponsorship of a bicycle rental program.

Bike Share ICT was created in 2017 and it has bicycle rental stations across the downtown area and other locations.   Blue Cross spokesperson Virginia Barnes said the program brings an affordable, accessible way for Wichita residents to explore their own city on two wheels.    She said the donation is about helping Wichitans live healthier lives.

Vice Mayor Becky Tuttle said partners like the Knight Foundation and the Wichita Community Foundation have also helped with the program.  She said Bike Share not only has health benefits, but it also helps bring Wichita residents to the core area.

Wichita Transit Director Mike Tann said the Blue Cross donation keeps the cost of bike rentals down to $3.00 an hour.
