Man Accused of Shooting, Injuring 3 KCK Officers Mistakenly Released

A man accused of injuring 3 Kansas City, Kansas Officers on April 6th was mistakenly released.

The U.S. Marshals Service is looking for Jae’veon Marquice Mitchell-Locke after the Platte County Detention Center inadvertently released him.

Mitchell-Locke was charged with:

  • attempted capital murder
  • three counts of aggravated battery against law enforcement officer
  • three counts of criminal discharge of a firearm at an occupied building or vehicle
  • three counts of aggravated endangering of a child
  • aggravated assault of law enforcement officer
  • distribution or possession of fentanyl with intent to distribute

He was treated at a hospital in Jackson County following the shooting and was sent to the Jackson County Detention Center. Mitchell-Locke was then transferred to Platte County for misdemeanor traffic warrants. He faces even more charges in Wyandotte County in connection to the multiple officer shooting. Officials are still trying to determine how and why he was released.

Mitchell-Locke was one of three people arrested after a shooting broke out during an undercover fentanyl deal.  The shooting left three Kansas City, Kansas officers wounded.

Anyone who has information on Mitchell-Locke’s whereabouts has been asked to call 911.
